Yesterday, the students wrote about how Abby has changed. They observed that her webbed feet have developed and that she walks much better now. She is fluffier and chirps a lot now. Abby also likes to flap her wings. She eats food now and drinks lots of water.
Today, we each had a turn to hold Abby. It was the moment many had been waiting for! We also said goodbye to Abby today. She will be leaving us to go back to her "goose" family to learn how to be a goose and not a person! As a send off, we wrote letters to Abby, expressing our hopes for her. Then, each student got to read their journal entry to Abby. She loved all of them and seemed to take the advice and aspirations to heart.
Many students said they hope that Abby will become a big, strong goose. They believe she will "chirp, chirp" a lot and that perhaps her mother will have to tell her to be quiet sometimes! One student hopes that Abby will learn to defend herself and become a good swimmer.
We even had a prediction that Abby will one day open her own store called "Abby's Store!" We sure have high hopes for our little gosling!
We are grateful to God for creating Abby and for allowing us to care for her!
